✨This custom-built catio was designed to give a family of cats the freedom to enjoy the outdoors safely while creating an attractive, functional space that complements the home and backyard.

Unlike a pre-built cat enclosure, every detail of this project was designed around the available space, the home’s layout, and the cats who would use it. The finished catio features multi-level climbing platforms, elevated walkways, ramps, bridges, scratching areas, observation decks, built-in cat houses, and comfortable spaces for relaxing, exploring, and enjoying the fresh air.

A combination of artificial turf, natural landscaping, decorative rock, and planted areas creates an outdoor environment that feels comfortable and engaging. A designated natural bathroom area helps make everyday maintenance easier, while secure galvanized wire keeps the cats safely enclosed without sacrificing visibility or fresh air.

To help protect the space from Colorado’s changing weather, the catio also features covered areas that provide shade from the summer sun and shelter from rain and snow. Custom access points allow the cats to safely move between the home and their outdoor space.

One of the most important goals of this project was making the finished catio look like it belonged with the home—not like an enclosure that was simply added afterward. The structure, finishes, landscaping, and custom features were thoughtfully designed to work together as one complete outdoor living space.
